Restaurant Genki-Tei serves dishes prepared with yumetororo—a type of mountain yam that’s a local specialty of Asahi. Enjoy the unique flavor and sticky texture of mountain yam. The restaurant also uses locally grown Mineasahi rice, whose small grain size and sweet taste set it apart from other varieties of rice. This 120-year-old building was relocated to the edge of the river, and now serves as a restaurant. Diners can enjoy gohei-mochi and seasonal dishes—sansai vegetables in the spring, sweetfish in the summer, mountain yam in the autumn, and boar hot pot in the winter. If you’re not a big fan of river fish and wild game, the restaurant also serves fresh fish straight from the market and the Oku-Mikawa region’s very own Horai beef.
