Old train stations lie along the old Mikawa Line (Sanage Station–Nishi Nakagane Station) of the Meitetsu Railway just as they would have looked once they were abandoned in March 31, 2004. Get an introduction to the four stations time has left untouched: Mikawa Hirose Station, Shidare Station, Mikawa Mifune Station and Nishi Nakagane Station.
Of the four, Mikawa Hirose Station and Nishi Nakagane Station are designated national cultural properties.

    Mikawa Hirose Station

Located in Toyota's town of Higashi-Hirose along Prefectural Route 350 as it snakes along the Yahagi River, and just at the base of the Hiroume Bridge, is a beautiful forgotten station. Mikawa Hirose Station once welcomed and saw passengers off along the former Meitetsu Mikawa Line, which closed on April 1, 2004 together with its neighbors Sanage Station and Nishi Hirose Station. The station's platform is designated a national cultural property.

    Shidare Station

From Sanage Station, Shidare was the second station along the former train line and features a red trolley running along the tracks which you can ride. The simple mechanism is fun for anyone including parents and children to use as you move down the railway.

    Mikawa Mifune Station

Mikawa Mifune is the first station from Sanage Station, and there's a walking trail maintained by local residents.

The round trip from the former Mifune Station to the Mifune River railway bridge is approximately 2.6 km (about 1 hour).

In spring, you can enjoy the magnificent Kawazu cherry blossoms at the station.

    Nishi Nakagane Station

Nishi Nakagane Station's quaint platform is of retro construction and blends in perfectly with the surrounding countryside, offering a nostalgic sense of how things may have looked in simpler times.
